Have you heard the news? Shikany opens to the public this Saturday, April 26th. A graduate of the French Culinary Institute in New York, (and formerly of Ortanique, Sushi Samba, and La Cofradia), Chef Shikany is about to take Wynwood by storm.
I have been closely following the restaurant’s journey for a while now. I still remember seeing the very first photo of their empty space, just begging to be transformed. The moment has finally arrived. We can all experience the result of what has surely been blood, sweat, and tears combined with an insane amount of talent, focus, and determination. On the menu? well, I know I have my eye on the panko dusted fried oysters, cognac vanilla waffles, red deer osso bucco, and butter poached Maine lobster mac. Mmm, mmm, mmm.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have tried Chef Michael Shikany’s cuisine throughout the last three years. His remarkable attention to detail will surely take center stage at his restaurant.
Not one to do things on a small scale, Shikany will not only function as a restaurant at night, but it will also serve as a culinary institution by day. Courses offered will be 4-6 weeks long and only available to 30 students at a time.
For now, the spotlight will be solely on Saturday’s grand opening.
Shine on Chef!
