Big Easy Winebar & Grill

No, not THAT Big Easy. This Big Easy Winebar & Grill comes to Miami from the Western Cape region of South Africa, by Ernie Els (nicknamed Big Easy, for his stature and smooth golf swing) and the Grove Bay Hospitality Group.  Offering a taste of authentic South African cuisine, the restaurant is now open at the shiny and new Brickell City […]

2016 SOBEWFF Memories

It’s almost that time of the year again. Pretty soon, Miami will be rolling out its flashy red carpet for the industry’s most notorious and talented chefs during the annual South Beach Wine and Food Festival. As the event continually grows, so does the schedule with infinite possibilities: wine tastings, workshops of all kinds, cooking demonstrations, […]

Bienvenidos a Bazaar Mar

Even before South Florida had two gems by Chef José Andrés, I’d visited (and loved) SAAM at The Bazaar in Beverly Hills for a memorable and glam birthday celebration. Needless to say, I’m ecstatic we now have a couple of our very own Bazaars! The first, The Bazaar South Beach, happens to be one of my top favorite […]

Eleven Madison Park: the sequel

Beyond excited to return and experience the updated menu and concept, our group of six actually extended the trip one more night to fit this restaurant in.  Will travel for food. Clearly. I love my tribe! Welcomed by sommelier Jane Lopes (of the Uncorked reality series following six aspiring master sommeliers as they prepare for the Court of Masters Sommelier exam), dinner started on a fun note. If you haven’t watched the series, get to it! Fan-girl moment aside, Jane happily put up with all of our questions and decanted our wine. Two enthusiastic thumbs up from her for our choice too!

Top 30 Bites: MIAMI

What a year! The Miami culinary scene is booming. Confession: I’m having the hardest time choosing the restaurants that will top my list as 2016’s best (for the annual Miami-Dade & Broward Top Restaurants List I always post). What a great problem to have! As I reviewed my photos for that project, I came across a ridiculous number of dishes I’d love to repeat. […]

Fi’lia

Located on the ground level of the SLS Brickell and just one week into service,  the very modern and chic,  Fi’Lia already functions like a seasoned restaurant veteran. Considering the restaurant was full to capacity during my visit, that’s a good thing. I’ve been to Michael’s Genuine more times than I can remember, as well as the former […]

Brava

Armed with tickets for Adele‘s premiere Miami concert, our party of four chose Brava for a perfect pre-show dinner . Hello, a no-brainer, really. Arriving just a couple of minutes before our 6:00pm reservation, I checked in with the hostess. From the nearby doors, I could hear the jazzy sounds of piano keys coming off the speakers […]

The 9 Best Foie Gras Dishes in Miami

October 2016 Foie Gras: noun \ˈfwä-ˈgrä\  As per French Code rural – Article L654-27-1: “On entend par foie gras, le foie d’un canard ou d’une oie spécialement engraissé par gavage.“(“‘Foie gras’ is understood to mean the liver of a duck or a goose that has been specially fattened by gavage…” Due to the traditional practice of force-feeding the animals to fatten […]

Byblos

Located in the beautiful space formerly used by Catch (by Season 3’s  Top Chef winner Chef Hung Huynh, who is no longer with the company) and within the Shorecrest building, Byblos delivered an impeccable experience I’m eager to repeat. I had every intention of solely trying their Miami Spice Menu. And I did. Sort of. After being cheerfully greeted by the hostesses, our […]
