It’s my 9th Blogiversary! And what a ride it has been. So many restaurant reviews, travel posts, and spotlight features.

To celebrate, I am kicking off a new way to follow all things The Whet Palette: a podcast!

Top 100 Bites: Miami 2020

I chose to expand my annual Top 30 Bites list to 100. Do I even have that many memorable bites to feature? Turns out, I do! I tried my hardest to support as many restaurants as I could these last nine months. I love that it wasn’t easy, and that each photo brought back memories of each visit. You might notice that I experienced some of the highlighted bites as takeout…#because2020. Despite the bumpy road, Miami continued making this exercise tough on me by once again providing the best eats, EVEN in 2020. After much debate over which bites impacted me the most, I have finally committed to a solid 100.

Kilgore Culinary Knockout: Kaido, Ama, & Ember

I can’t think of a chef I’ve mentioned more on this blog than Bradley Kilgore. There’s a good reason for that. It’s impossible to talk about Miami’s current culinary sweet spot without mentioning his name. The mile-long list of accolades continues to mount as South Florida sits royally reaping the benefits of his class-act empire. His newest ventures follow the established Alter and Brava, and leave no stone unturned. From intricate interior design execution to, more importantly, bites of a lifetime, every restaurant exists at turnkey status.

Cafe La Trova: Que Rico Vacilón

Who knew we needed yet another Cuban spot in Miami? I mean, aren’t we already synonymous with everything Cuba? Pero, parece que sí, and I’m drinking the Kool-Aid guarapo, señores y señoras!

Stationed perfectly en la Calle Ocho, Cafe La Trova brings sazón and a little refresher on the traditional Cuban fare. The reason? James Beard Award-winner Chef Michelle Bernstein. Unless you’ve been living under la saya de tu abuela, you already KNOW she’s South Florida royalty: Bernstein, not tu abuela. Google her si no sabes, porque I don’t have time to recap.
