Le Zoo, Je Like

September 16th, 2016 Miami Spice Update Le Zoo 9700 Collins Avenue Bal Harbour, FL 33154 HIT: The Bistro Chicken: pan roasted breast in sherry vinegar and a black pepper jus…simply delightful. MISS: Not a single one. Despite its ritzy location, dining there is surprisingly low key. Le Zoo continues to deliver quality food: uncomplicated, simple French goodness. =================================================================== April 22nd, 2016 Despite my […]

Khong River House has been closed for a while now, yet I still talk about the food and remember it fondly. Chef Bee (Piyarat Potha Arreeratn) didn’t stay with Khong long and his less than amicable departure even picked up several headlines at the time. The concept, though, remained strong enough to carry the restaurant through until its closure last year. […]

Beachcraft

Gone are the dark, sultry, and clubby STK interiors that existed before Beachcraft’s big remodel. The result is gorgeous. Luckily for me, I now get to enjoy Siena Tavern in my own backyard and see the 5th and Washington corner come […]

Miami Michelin Guide Selections

November 2014 Part 1  New York City has them. The San Francisco and Wine Country area has them. Chicago has them. Miami does not. Well, why not? How much longer do we have to wait? Miami restaurants are ready. Bring them on! I am, of course, talking about the much coveted Michelin stars given out […]

1826 Restaurant and Lounge

Growing up in South Florida has allowed me to experience the rebirth of our beloved South Beach, a.k.a. SOBE, first hand. Surprisingly, not everyone knows that for a while there SOBE resembled a scene out of Miami Vice. Ocean Drive? Think quiet, retirement homes, and oceanfront rocking chairs. Washington and Collins Avenue? Good luck walking those shady, dark streets […]
