Top 22 Miami Restaurants of 2022: Palette Awards

This is the 10th year posting this list (and the third with a corresponding award). I reserved, ordered, photographed, and ate at these restaurants, on my own. No one asked nor paid me to do so. Supporting our local restaurants brings me joy, and I am passionate about Miami’s food scene.

These are the restaurants you visit to sit for dinner. Read that again. SIT. FOR. DINNER. Not “grab a bite,” “order a few things,” “stop in,” or just “enjoy some cocktails.” You can enjoy food nirvana at any of the Top 22 locations.

Dinner as a leisurely experience and not an afterthought or just a selfie op. The restaurants receiving Palette Awards offer the total package.

Given South Florida’s random culinary rules and often flighty patrons, it’s an impressive achievement for them to be still standing and enjoying great success. Cruising that long on the Miami dining horizon takes vision, […]

Exit Reality. Enter Cafe Roval.

Owned by SOBE visionary and pioneer Mark Soyka (of Soyka, News Cafe, and the very missed Van Dyke Cafe) this reimagined gem sits beaming just waiting to be discovered. I don’t know about you, but I can’t remember the last time I dined at a remodeled 1923 former fresh-water pump house. Walking up to Cafe Roval, I […]
